DJ C-Lo knew something special was about to blossom while playing at his first party almost a decade ago at a place many of us won’t be able locate on a map - Herring Cole Chapel in Canton, N.Y., while in college. And the rest is history! Why not?The son of parents who immigrated from Ecuador to the United States for that “American Dream,” DJ C-Lo was a defensive lineman under Coach Lou Sabin (who coached NFL Hall of Famer O.J. Simpson) at Canton University. Inspired by DJ Tek-Nice (NYC), DJ Red Alert, DJ Kid Capri and Grandmaster Flash (and also devastated at the unfortunate death of a close personal friend, DJ Carl Blaze), DJ C-Lo has gone on to sack the turntable business with the same heart and determination he had while out on the grid iron, just mixing it up to the crowds delight.
Those small college parties led to other bigger and brighter opportunities when he headed back to The Big Apple after college. His first date at the now defunct Club Float (now called Touch Nightclub) near Times Square would eventually provide growth to his credibility in the music business, thus countless events followed. In June of 2006, DJ C-Lo became a member of the world famous DJ crew, "The Heavy Hitters", lead by the legendary DJ Enuff (Notorious B.I.G.'s DJ). C-Lo has paved his way into becoming one of the most sought after DJs not only in the New York Tri-State area, but also throughout the United States and the countries abroad. He’s wowed crowds in Canada, Norway, Australia, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico just to name a few.
DJ C-Lo has played at exclusive events for 50 Cent, Cee Lo of Gnarls Barkley, Fabolous, Rick Ross, Ne-Yo, Jim Jones, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo. He’s had the honor of playing at events hosted by Nike, Adidas, Best Buy, Hot 97.1FM (WQHT-NY), the Intrepid Sea-Air Space Museum and Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus. Sports franchises like the New York Jets, New York Giants and New York Knicks have called upon DJ C-Lo to provide entertainment at recent events. Throughout the years he’s also played for at the annual “Stoked Skate Jam Day” hosted by Stoked Mentoring Organization, a non-profit program that empowers youth from under served communities to achieve a more successful future by providing programs based in action sports culture and that result in personal development, academic achievement, positive relationships, and a healthy lifestyle along with ESPN’s "X-Games" Sal Masekela, Zoo York and 5BoroNYC professional skateboard teams.
DJ C-Lo’s work in the nightclub scene has awarded him recent guest appearance spots on B.E.T.'s popular daily evening cable show "106 & Park", and on the radio. He's also made weekly appearances at the New York Yankees Comedy Championship Series at the newly built Yankee Stadium. In 2007, DJ C-Lo was awarded "Best Mixtape Collaboration" along with DJ Danny S at the Latin Urban Mixx Awards. In 2008, after winning best mixtape collaboration award, C-Lo was awarded "Best Club DJ of the Year" along with colleague DJ Camilo.
You can now hear DJ C-Lo on Hot 97.1FM (WQHT-NY) "Take It To The Streets" [Fri & Sat 2am-4am US EST] & on his own weekly online radio show, “StreetWire LIVE!" [Tue 8pm-10pm US EST on alistradio.net], entertaining listeners with his charm and interviewing some of the top artists of today. C-Lo has also played during pre-game and halftime sessions during St. Francis University’s (N.Y.) Division I men’s basketball games. In March of 2009, DJ C-Lo signed a short-term undisclosed endorsement deal with Belvedere Vodka, becoming Belvedere's Vodka's official New York City DJ Ambassador.
In the near future, C-Lo looks forward to give back to his community through his love of sports & music. Why Not?
